For you were strangers in a strange land...

How do we show hospitality to our neighbors who are immigrants? What is a Biblical-based response to this contemporary issue?

Join Living Stream COB - an online fellowship - for an online worship experience and conversation about immigration and explore ministries to detainees and the responses of people of faith to immigration problems. Including an interview with Pastor Samuel Blanco regarding his ministry at a detention center for immigrants as well as reflection on immigration here in the borderlands.

Iglesia de Brethren represents at Ecumenical Latino Gathering

Daniel D'Oleo, Joel Peņa, Becky and Richard Zapata represented the Church of the Brethren at the first national gathering of Latino Denominational Leaders hosted by Christian Churches Together in Chicago. Following these meetings, they came to Elgin to share highlights from the conversation about the future of the Hispanic church in America and current concerns. They also shared their experiences in the Church of the Brethren and the work they are doing in their communities. Together we prayed for and visioned our life together as an intercultural, multilingual denomination fulfilling the prophecies of Revelations 7:9.

Are you Ready to plant a Multicultural Church?

Mid-Atlantic District is beginning an intentionally multicultural "replant" effort at Good Shepherd in Silver Spring. An article by district executive minister Gene Hagenberger in the district newsletter said, "We see Silver Spring and the neighborhoods around the current Good Shepherd church as an area that needs what we have to share as those who know the love and grace of Jesus Christ and as members of the Church of the Brethren." The district's Church Extension and Evangelism Ministry Team is heading up the work. The district is requesting prayers and donations for the replant effort. See the full article (PDF).
