Church of the Brethren
Church of the Brethren's Global Mission and Service in action

"That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
—2 Corinthians 5:19-20

 Global Mission Prayer Guide
November 27, 2017

In the prayers for this week from Global Mission and Service Office, we lift up:

Nigeria

Pray for the Women's Theologian Conference of Ekklesiyar Yan'uwa a Nigeria (EYN, Church of the Brethren in Nigeria) taking place November 29 through December 2. The conference serves as a time of fellowship and training for EYN women who have been trained theologically: women who have theological degrees, teachers at theological institutions, and women's spiritual leaders. Pray for a time of inspiration and strengthening.

Pray for Nathan Hosler, director of the Office of Public Witness, as he travels to Nigeria to attend the conference and lead workshops on peacebuilding. He also will reconnect with EYN church leaders and work to strengthen relationships with various governmental and civil society organizations in Nigeria. Pray for health and safety. Pray that the visits can further strengthen the Church of the Brethren's Nigeria advocacy work in the United States.

Egypt

Pray for all victims of Friday's terrorist attack on a Sufi mosque in Bir al-Abed, a town in the Sinai Peninsula. Through bombing and gunfire, attackers killed at least 305 people and injured at least 128 more. Pray for healing of bodies, hearts, and minds for all affected by this tragedy. Pray for an end to violence and retaliation.
