Brethren Disaster Ministries project site in Lake County, Ind.

Indiana Flood Recovery, 2009 - Brethren Disaster Ministries: Hurricane Ike reached the Gulf Coast in Sept. 2008. The storm continued to the north, and rainwater flooded much of the central US. BDM has been working on rebuilding some of nearly 1,000 low-income homes still in need. Originally based in Johnson County in Indiana, which was impacted by earlier flooding, the recovery project was moved to Hammond to rebuild in Lake County, Ind.
