Brethren World Assembly - 300th Anniversary by Glenn Riegel

Among those who brought Anniversary greetings was Ingo Stucke, a member of the Governing Board of the Protestant Church of Westphalia. As part of his remarks, Stucke made an apology to the Brethren on behalf of the Protestant Church in Germany, noting that it was the Lutheran and Reformed who persecuted the first Brethren in the early 1700s, as well as other Pietists and Anabaptists of the time. "The persecutions are a black spot on the history of the Evangelical Protestant Church," he said. "We regret the persecutions of that time and ask your forgiveness."
